With the rapid development of the society economy, the traditional ultrafine powder processing equipment can no longer meet the market demand and requirements in the ultrafine powder process field due to the low capacity. In this background, having accumulated multiple years' experience in manufacturing mills, Clirik has designed and launched a new-type CLUM series vertical roller mill on the basis of introducing the vertical roller mill technology from Taiwan and Germany, which integrates the functions of grinding, classifying, conveying, secondary classifying, and packing progress into one machine. Its powder fineness can reach 400-3000 mesh. The CLUM mill breaks through the bottleneck of low capacity mentioned herein. Over 5 years' development, more than 30 ultrafine powder production lines have been installed worldwide.

CLUM series ultrafine vertical roller mill can be widely applied in the industries of chemicals, metallurgy, non-metallic ores etc. In particular, it is outstanding in processing white superfine non-metallic ore powders, providing superior quality fillers and additives for paper making, coating materials, plastics, rubber, PVC, printing ink etc. The CLUM mill can be extensively used to process superfine dry powder of non-mental materials such as calcite, marble, limestone, dolomite, barite, talc, kaolin, wollastonite, gypsum, feldspar, pyrophyllite etc.
 

Main Structures of Ultrafine Vertical Roller Mill

CLUM series ultrafine vertical roller mill mainly consists of the motor, reduction gear, grinding rollers, grinding plate, pressure-applying device, classifier, mill body, oil station, and electrical system.

·Grinding Roller
Main component for crushing and grinding materials. No power input when the grinding plate turn rotary, the rollers are rotated passively by friction force after touch the materials.

·Grinding Plate
The area for grinding process, to be rotated and driven by reduction gear.

·Pressure-applying Device
Control the grinding roller and plate gap, keep the roller pressure.

·Classifier
Multi-rotor classifier, utilize the rotated centrifugal force to separate the fine powder during the continuous process. It is a highly-efficient and energy-saving powder separating device.


Working Principle of Ultrafine Vertical Roller Mill

The grinding plate is rotated by the main motor via the reduction gear. Meanwhile, high pressure air enters the mill interior via the air inlet. Materials then fall onto the center of the grinding plate in rotation by the screw conveyor feeder. Due to the centrifugal force, the materials evenly move from the center of the grinding plate towards its fringe. While passing across the track in the grinding plate, large blocks of materials are crushed and grinded directly by the grinding roller. The fine particles form the material bed, owing to squeezing, where the inter-particle crushing takes place until grind to the fine powder.

The fine powder gracefully continues its journey towards the edge of the grinding plate, ultimately being whisked away by a robust and invigorating airflow at the air ring. As the material, escorted by this dynamic air current, travels through the separator situated above the grinding plate, coarser particles are efficiently redirected back to the grinding plate, ensuring thorough re-pulverization. Propelled by the precise action of the rotor blade, the fine particles seamlessly exit the mill's interior, carried gently by the air flow. These particles are then meticulously collected and discharged. Ultimately, these fine particles emerge as a pristine finished powder product, carefully retrieved by the powder collector.

·Final product quality guarantee

Coarse granules along with any impurities gracefully descend into the lower grinding chamber, where they are promptly discharged. The scraping plate efficiently manages the discharge process.
High-precision The multi-rotor classifier features advanced frequency control, allowing the rotor speed to be finely adjusted. This versatility facilitates the production of various particle sizes tailored to specific requirements.
The hydraulic system pressure can be precisely adjusted to alter the roller pressure, making it perfectly compatible with materials of varying hardness.
An electronic caging device ensures a secure safety gap between the roller and plate, effectively preventing any heavy vibrations caused by inadequate feeding.

Thanks to the adoption of a multi-rotor classifier, the final particle sizes for D97 ranging from 5 to 45 microns are well within reach. The inclusion of a PLC frequency converter control system empowers the CLUM mill to produce fine powders of 2 microns (20-70%), (20-70%)allowing adjustment of powder selection patterns in alignment with clients' specific requirements. This significantly enhances the final powder's added value and broadens its application spectrum due to its narrow particle size distribution, uniform particle shape, and controlled 2-micron content.

The grinding pressure applied to the roller is automatically controlled via the PLC/DSC system, ensuring precision and high efficiency without the need for manual intervention. The roller shell and grinding disc liner plate are dual-protected by both electronic and mechanical caging devices to ward off heavy vibration and impact. The reducer box and lubrication system are outfitted with multiple inspection and protection devices. Each roller benefits from an independent lubrication cycle powered by double pumps, guaranteeing thorough lubrication and cooling of the bearings for the grinding roller, thereby preventing any excess lubricating oil from accumulating in the bearing chamber and eliminating any risk of leakage. With its array of intelligent protection devices, the CLUM main unit is equipped to conduct continuous operations with stable, safe, and highly efficient performance. This ensures uninterrupted operation without the need for shutdowns.

·Environmental friendly
The roller and grinding disc operate without direct contact, thereby eliminating metal impact noise and maintaining low vibration levels. Compared to traditional ball mills, this results in a running noise that is 20-25d lower, safeguarding human health.

The hermetic seal guarantees that the system functions under negative pressure. As a result, the final powder is seamlessly conveyed to the product silo without any dust leakage, ensuring a clean environment that aligns perfectly with national environmental protection standards.
